Reishi, Soil, and Small Farm Solutions — May 31st at Third Great
Cultivating Resilience: Field Day at Third Great Farm
📅 Friday, May 31st | ⏰ 10 AM – 2 PM
📍 10156 E Ridott Rd, Pecatonica, IL
Hey friends,
We’re excited to announce our first ever Field Day—part of our SARE-funded project here at Third Great Farm.
We’ll be sharing how we’re growing reishi mushrooms outdoors in a low-input, regenerative system using sawdust, nursery pots, animals, and soil—no sterile labs or high-tech gear required.
If you’re curious about mushrooms, local food systems, low plastic cultivation, or just want to see what’s possible on a working small farm, we’d love to have you here.
🌱 What to Expect
Reishi inoculation demo using sawdust substrate + reused materials
Guided tour (mushrooms, caterpillar tunnels, livestock systems)
Project presentation + Q&A
Conversation on waste reduction, soil health, and sourcing
Light food + good community connection
📝 RSVP Now
This event is free, but space is limited and RSVP is required so we can prep food and materials.

This project is about more than mushrooms—it's about building real resilience with what you already have. And we believe this kind of farming matters.
We’d love for you to be part of it.
With gratitude,
Appy + Eric
